Mall of America® was always envisioned to be approximately double its current size. Long-range expansion plans consist of a multi-level complex that will connect to the New Grand Entrance on all levels and span Lindau Lane extending to the parcel to the north. Phase II is expected to attract additional upscale customers with an estimated annual household income of more than $100,000, as well as families with older children. Once fully developed, Phase II anticipates drawing up to an additional 20 million visitors annually—nearly 60 percent from outside 150 miles—almost doubling the state's economic impact to an estimated $4.3 billion. The expansion will add up to 8,000 additional parking spaces.
