Overview

Future Expansion

Mall of America® has development rights for up to an additional 5.6 million square feet of mixed-use space. With 40 million annual visitors, MOA has more visitors than all other attractions in the state combined and nearly 10 times more visitors than Minnesota's second biggest attraction. Expansion plans consist of a multi-level complex that will connect to the existing Mall on all four levels. Phase II is expected to attract additional upscale customers with an estimated annual household income of more than $100,000, as well as families with older children. Phase II anticipates drawing up to an additional 20 million visitors annually – nearly 60 percent from outside 150 miles – almost doubling the state's economic impact to an estimated $4.3 billion. The expansion will add up to 8,000 additional parking spaces.
