Celebrating 150 Years of Minnesota Tourism

The Metro Region of Convention and Visitors Bureaus will celebrate National Tourism Week with a Sesquicentennial spin by showcasing 15 decades of tourism highlights in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metro Region.

The program will include an historical narrative of each decade from the 1850s through present day, with special appearances by celebrities and characters representing key attractions or events than have enhanced the region as a major tourism destination. Items commemorating tourism events in 2008 will be also be collected for a Tourism Time Capsule to be opened during Minnesota's Bicentennial.

Join area CVB officials and special guests ranging from lumberjacks and fur traders to jockeys and race car drivers to royalty and superstars with a special appearance by characters from Nickelodeon Universe®. The public is invited to stay for Sesquicentennial cake and refreshments following the program.
