MOA® Community Foundation

We exist to change things for the better, improving the quality of life for our communities, investing in inclusive opportunities to make measurable impact in education, mental health, community wellness + financial stability.

Targeted Support for Broad Impact

We have identified four Foundation focus areas, however, our impact in each individual area is intended to have a cumulative ripple effect. When families feel economically stable, kids can learn. When a person’s mental health is prioritized, their physical health can improve as well. No one focus area is more important than any other; all four combine to uplift all in our community.

Education for All

Our partnerships with local organizations provide funding, hands and resources to support academic learning and workforce readiness efforts. Minnesota’s test scores and graduation rates are a source of concern for all, and we want to be a part of supporting education in ways that will impact families, businesses and Minnesota for decades to come.

Mental Health

Unaddressed mental health issues take a dramatic toll on individuals as well as society-wide. The tools and resources to improve mental health exist; our goal is to put energy, funding and resources behind the organizations and initiatives who recognize the challenges and provide the support to help everyone improve their mental wellness, every day.

Community Wellness

Healthcare is expensive, difficult to access, and complicated to navigate, from preventive care though chronic conditions and crisis situations. By directly supporting the physical health of all, we can encourage the preventive steps that benefit our communities, and partner with organizations that are leading the way to building better health and a better health system in Minnesota.

Financial Stability

One out of ten of our neighbors lives below the poverty line, with certain communities disproportionately affected by financial instability. In addition to bringing volunteers, funding and resources to the fight, we will work to expand work and advancement opportunities plus support organizations that offer relief and initiate true, lasting change in the system.

2024 Focus: Education for All

Every journey begins with a single step. For our second year, Mall of America Community Foundation has made the thoughtful decision to focus on the pillar, Education for All. We firmly believe that growth and strength come through, from + by education. Our goal is to have a measurable impact in this area—laying the groundwork for a successful future.

Even before Mall of America existed as a destination, we invested our resources into bettering our community, hosting our very first non-profit event—the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) walk—on the grounds that would house our stores and headquarters.
