Mall of America® announces fourth round of businesses in Community Commons
The unique retail space first opened in October 2020 and continues to feature new local, minority-owned businesses every six months
BLOOMINGTON, MN— April 6, 2022
On October 1, 2020, Community Commons opened at Mall of America as a donated space for 17 businesses impacted by the pandemic and destruction from the civil unrest that took place throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Today, Mall of America announces the fourth round of locally and minority-owned businesses opening in the cooperative retail space as it continues to feature a revolving group of local entrepreneurs every six months, giving brands the opportunity to test their concepts at Mall of America and expand into new audiences.
Mall of America is excited to announce the following six new brands now open within Community Commons:
- Arwa Fashion
Local women’s fashion clothing and accessories featuring a variety of abaaya designs and sizes.
- Corazon Clothing
The idea behind Corazon Clothing originated in 2018 in an effort to incorporate vibrancy of Latin cultures with local influence into clothing that could be worn with pride and stand for something.
- Honor Roll Athletics
Honor Roll Athletics is a youth lead, youth driven business clothing line that is an extension of BEMP Academic Excellence & Youth Business training program. The purpose of Honor Roll Athletics is to teach youth how to run and manage a business, create job opportunities, encourage academic achievement and fund youth empowerment initiatives.
- Mars Jameson
Mars Jameson is a handcrafted brand that designs and creates handbags in leather and cordura water resistant canvas as well as handcrafted cosmetics and accessories.
- Safari Pride Coffee
Safari Pride Coffee is a gourmet coffee roaster located in North Minneapolis that provides a full range of single origin African coffees and blends from the bean belt of Africa, the region around the equator that provides the best climate for coffee cultivation with its warm and moist environment, as well as its rich volcanic soils.
- Susana Mendez Jewelry

The new businesses entering the space benefit from no rent for the initial three months, allowing them the opportunity to get up and running. After three months, they have the opportunity to remain in Community Commons with percentage rent. After their six-month period, brands may have the opportunity to open an independent space within Mall of America.
Community Commons is open on Level 2, South at Mall of America. The businesses in the space benefit from the continued in-kind support from the award-winning team at KNOCK inc., a full-experience creative agency who uses people-focused design to build love and loyalty for brands.
