Plan a Kid-Free Half Day at MOA®

If you’re visiting Mall of America® without kids and only have half a day, you have a major advantage: flexibility. Your visit can be a mix of shopping, great food, a little entertainment, and maybe even a cocktail…all at your own pace.

A smart place to begin is with a quick stroll through Nickelodeon Universe®. For those adventurous guests, grab a point pass and start your day riding the SpongeBob Rock Bottom Plunge roller coaster! Even if you’re not planning to ride anything, the energy of the park in the center of the building is worth experiencing. From there, you can easily branch out into shopping, which is where adults tend to appreciate the variety most. Flagship stores like lululemon, Nike, and the NBA Store offer unique selections you may not find everywhere, and there are dozens of newer brands opening each year.

Build in time for something experiential, too. That might mean a stop at SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium, catching a movie, or trying one of the many interactive attractions throughout the Mall. Want an incredible adventure without leaving our building…you’ve got to take a ride on FlyOver America. Guaranteed fun for everyone! Even browsing specialty shops or pop-ups can turn into a memorable part of the day.

When it’s time to eat, you have options ranging from quick bites to full-service dining. If you want something fast but satisfying, the Food Courts are efficient and surprisingly diverse. If you’re looking for a more relaxed meal, consider one of the sit-down restaurants where you can recharge and people-watch a bit — always an underrated Mall activity.

Insider Tip: Some great options include Twin City Grill, Cedar + Stone Urban Table, FireLake Grill House + Cocktail Bar, Cantina Laredo and Nordstrom Grill.

Here’s an insider secret that can save you a lot of time: many of our stores are grouped together almost like neighborhoods. If you know where to go, you can shop smarter instead of wandering. On Level 1 in the South and West areas, you’ll find a strong mix of aspirational fashion, accessories, and tech. Level 2 is home to many of our trend-forward and younger brands. On the North side of Level 1, you’ll discover the impressive flagship locations for Zara and H&M, which are worth visiting even if you’ve shopped them elsewhere. Our East side includes lots of kids-interest and Minnesota themed brands. And Level 3 often delivers some of the best value-focused finds in the building.

A little planning goes a long way. And once you understand the “neighborhoods,” shopping at Mall of America becomes much easier (and more fun).

Pro Tip: Take a few minutes to visit the Huntington Bank Rotunda during your trip. There’s often an event, performance, or activation happening, but even when there isn’t, it’s one of the most iconic spaces in the building. And it’s a reminder that you’re visiting a place that’s hosted everyone from celebrities to world-class athletes over the years. Take 20 seconds to take an amazing selfie here – you’re worth it!

For those of you who would enjoy a fine cocktail check out CRAVE, The Fair on 4, or Margaritaville.

A half day for adults can feel surprisingly full at Mall of America. The biggest challenge usually isn’t finding something to do, it’s deciding what to save for your next visit.
