All-new Dutchman's Deck attraction sets sail inside Nickelodeon Universe® at Mall of America® for Spring Break 2027

BLOOMINGTON, MN — October 22, 2026

Argh! Prepared to be ghostified! Mall of America® is bringing an all-new adventure to Nickelodeon Universe® with the opening of Dutchman’s Deck, a towering new play experience inspired by the Flying Dutchman, SpongeBob SquarePants’ legendary ghostly pirate and main antagonist of the recent The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. Opening in March 2027, the attraction will give kids a new way to climb, explore and play high above the theme park.

Dutchman’s Deck packs five towers, seven bridges and two slides into multiple levels of adventure. Kids can crawl through tunnels, explore interactive features and find plenty of ways to climb and swing.

“Dutchman’s Deck gives kids a place to stay active, spark their imaginations and have fun,” said Jill Renslow, Chief Business Development & Marketing Officer at Mall of America. “From climbing and exploring to racing down the slides, there’s something to discover around every corner. We can’t wait for families to set out on an adventure and experience it for themselves.”

Standing at nearly 55 feet high, Dutchman’s Deck brings the Flying Dutchman’s ghostly ship to life, complete with a crow’s nest, lookout towers and seafaring-themed play elements on every level. Lighting and underwater effects will add to the experience and make Dutchman’s Deck a colorful addition to the theme park.

Interactive games and musical play features keep young swabbies busy, with activities sized just right for the littlest buccaneers. Four Nickelodeon brand-themed birthday party rooms inside Dutchman’s Deck let families celebrate their big day on board while enjoying Nickelodeon Universe.

Dutchman’s Deck will be part of the Nickelodeon Universe wristband experience, with admission beginning at six points.
